Established in 2019, EnergyWebChain (EWC) is a global nonprofit organization accelerating a low-carbon, customer-centric electricity system by unleashing the potential of open-source, decentralized technologies. EWC focuses on building core infrastructure and shared technology, speeding the adoption of commercial solutions, and fostering a community of practice.

To date, EWC can only be stored but not managed directly from cold storage using the Ledger Live app. This is because the coin isn’t fully supported by Ledger yet. The only option to manage stored EWC coins on a Ledger is to connect to the EnergyWeb wallet hosted on MyCrypto.

Today, we will show you how to connect Ledger to the EnergyWeb Wallet so that you can manage your stored EWC tokens without a problem.

Before you begin: You will need to have an initialized Ledger hardware wallet, plus the EnergyWebChain app already installed on your Ledger device. You also need to have the Ledger Live application downloaded and installed on your device.

Make sure you are using the latest version of Ledger Live.

How to get Ledger and the EnergyWeb Wallet started

(1). Visit the MyCrypto main website here, where the network connection is changed to the EWC. There you should see the welcome page as below.

(2). Click on the ‘Ledger’ option and then ‘Connect to Ledger Wallet.

(3). Select an address from the list, and when ready click ‘Unlock’.

(4). This will open the account wallet where you can see the balance and manage the funds.

Conclusion

Like many cryptocurrencies, EWC is a fast emerging cryptocurrency that is not yet fully supported on Ledger. However, the power of the EnergyWeb Wallet provides a means to manage EWC stored securely on a hardware device by connecting directly to a Ledger device. This way, EWC owners can both secure their assets as well as manage them properly. Enjoy!
